Young employees and trainees often have different needs and interests than the rest of the workforce. Therefore, the YAR may be formed from 5 employees under 18 or trainees.

The YAR represents the interests of all apprentices and all employees under the age of 18.

The youth and apprentice representation cannot act without the works council. It therefore works closely with the works council.

A youth and apprentice representation can request measures from the works council, measures that can help the young employees or apprentices at DESY Zeuthen.

In addition, the YAR checks whether the applicable labor laws, company agreements, collective agreements and accident prevention regulations are compliant. The equality and integration of the above-mentioned employees is promoted by the YAR.

With the consent of the works council, the youth and apprentice representation can convene a company youth and apprentice meeting before or after the works meeting.

All DESY employees from Zeuthen under the age of 18 and all apprentices of any age may vote.

All DESY employees from Zeuthen who have not yet reached the age of 25 or who are employed as apprentices may be elected. Members of the works council are not allowed to stand for election.
